Selection Trials of Young Players from India for Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2023 to Begin from 4 June

BAI (Badminton Association of India) will conduct trial sessions for the selection of top young players for the Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2023. The trials will take place from 4 to 7 June at Karnail Singh Stadium in New Delhi. The Asian Junior Badminton tournament will take place from 7 to 16 July in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is one of the best international platforms for young Badminton players to make a mark and showcase their talent while competing with the best players from Asia in one place.

The young Indian shuttlers will get a wonderful opportunity to international exposure in their field of sport, and further development in it. The selection of the players will be according to their performance in the selection process of the trials. The list of players comprises top-4 pairs from double events and top-8 boys and girls singles shutters from the All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament, which took place in Guwahati this month.

The selected players will represent India from the Asian continent. The tournament is also the gateway for young badminton players from India to grow their skills, find a level-playing place of competition, as well as foster a wholesome career in athletics. The trials will also include top-2 double pairs and top 4 singles players in the BAI rankings.

Five players apart from Anupama Upadhyaya (8), Anwesha Gowda (4), and Unnati Hooda (14) will take part in the trials. They are the ones ranked in the top 20 BWF rankings. The progress in the trials will indicate if the players will secure places in the national Indian Badminton team. After selection, the shortlisted players will be scheduled to participate in the Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2023.
